Submitted questions and displayed replies no longer appear to match.
Fort Vale High’s science symposium, featuring Stephen Hawking, has encountered an unexpected problem: the answer system is producing material that does not correspond to the students’ submitted questions.
Questions were collected on floppy disks. The discrepancy leaves an unresolved interval between a student submitting a file and an answer appearing through the school’s system.

A submitted question, a file label and a displayed reply are three different records.
The problem at Fort Vale High’s science symposium has put a normally unremarkable procedure under examination. Students submitted questions on floppy disks. The answer system then produced material that did not match.
A copy of the question establishes what a student intended to submit. A label describes a disk or file. A displayed reply establishes what the audience saw. None of those records alone describes the whole trip between them.

School notices · Tribune desk
The school desk’s notice concerns ordinary use of the audiovisual room.
Students returning audiovisual equipment are asked to leave cords with the equipment and identify the item on the checkout sheet. A room full of unlabeled boxes is difficult to make ready for the next class.
Personal disks should be kept separate from the equipment being returned. This general room notice does not report an additional incident in the symposium inquiry.
