Between the disk and the answer
A submitted question, a file label and a displayed reply are three different records.
The problem at Fort Vale High’s science symposium has put a normally unremarkable procedure under examination. Students submitted questions on floppy disks. The answer system then produced material that did not match.
A copy of the question establishes what a student intended to submit. A label describes a disk or file. A displayed reply establishes what the audience saw. None of those records alone describes the whole trip between them.
The department’s preservation notice asks that those records stay separate. Correcting a label now could make the original mismatch harder to trace.
Gai has been pursuing a connection between Hawking and Tony Hawk. In his case note, he also identifies the difference between a label and its contents. The first theory is his; the second distinction applies whichever theory survives.
The original symposium report remains an account of the disruption, not a finding about who caused it.
