The men who left were not the witness who stayed
Two parts of the woods account have been traveling together.
The men who arranged Wong Gai’s snipe hunt can account for the prank. Gai can account for what he says he saw after they left. Those statements cover different portions of the evening.
Our initial report described a search following Gai’s sighting. It did not identify the prank’s organizers as corroborating witnesses. Their intention to mislead him is relevant background, but it does not establish the identity of the later figure.
The departmental statement maintains the same distinction. The search responds to the report; it does not confirm a Sasquatch.
Gai’s case note argues that a prank cannot explain an event its organizers did not witness. That argument preserves a question. It does not supply the missing identification.
