This bulletin addresses public accounts of Matt Hamill’s disqualification and a proposed exhibition involving Mr. Gai. The qualifying decision was made by event officials. It is not a medical finding issued by this department.
Accounts of Hamill’s appearance should be kept separate from conclusions about its cause. A statement that officials suspected steroid use is not confirmation that steroid use occurred.
Persons describing the sequence should distinguish the meal at Wok N Roll, the qualifying decision and any subsequent arrangements. An agreement concerning one event should not be treated as agreement to another.
Communication must allow each participant to understand and respond to the actual proposal. The absence of an audible response is not, by itself, evidence of assent.
Mr. Gai describes the exhibition as a performance. That characterization belongs to his account. This notice does not establish that another participant shares it.
The Tribune’s qualifying report and its follow-up on the ruling are separate public accounts. No cause for Hamill’s condition is determined in this copy.
